The Signs and Markings Division is a part of the Traffic Control Division. Signs and Markings is responsible for the installation and maintenance of all traffic control signs, and pavement markings within the City Right of Way, posting of all Emergency Orders, and the installation of and maintenance of City bus shelters.

The Traffic Engineer supervisor leading the signs and markings division provides staff support to the New Haven Traffic Authority, regarding the regulation of all activities within the public right‐of‐way.

Staff also review and approve all construction staging plans for all proposed new development to ensure compliance with City traffic standards.
