Holiday Village

In December 2019, SBRC organized the first-ever Holiday Village on The Green. It marked the first time that commerce was allowed to take place on this historic space and successfully highlighted local artisans and businesses while providing free family-friendly holiday entertainment and activities. Make sure to look out for Holiday Village on the Green for years to come!

Other successful endeavors include:

  • SBRC has relationships with local and national service and training providers to meet entrepreneurs' needs regardless of the stage of their business or extensiveness of their education.
  • In the Fall of 2018 SBRC partnered with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to deliver the “Ready, Set, Go” entrepreneurial training program.
  • SBRC collaborates with the Connecticut Small Business Development Center (SBDC), SCORE, and the Small Business Administration to host classes for existing businesses. SBRC also continues to partner with local organizations such as the Spanish American Merchants Association, the Urban League of Southern Connecticut, the Town Green Special Services District, the Entrepreneurship Foundation, Health Haven Hub (a small business accelerator),
the New Haven Chamber of Commerce, and several private-sector entities.
  • For the student-entrepreneur community, SBRC spearheaded iHaven, a pilot initiative to unlock entrepreneurial potential, break down barriers among university-affiliated entrepreneurs and root them here, and create pipelines of employment opportunity for New Haven’s urban youth. The program received $250k in grants and partnered 5 universities, 3 banks, a law, and accounting firm.
  • SBRC has established a relationship with Goldman Sachs' 10,000 Small Businesses program for elite-level training.
  • SBRC will add Entrepreneurship programming in Spanish.
