  • 2023 - Primary Election Participating Candidates:

  • 2021 - Friends of Justin Elicker collected $20,000 in grant funding and an additional $41,534.00 in matching funds during the primary election cycle. Elicker collected $20,000 in grant funding during the general election and an additional $11,449.70 in matching funds.
  • 2021 - Karen DuBois-Walton collected $10,786.00 in matching funds in the primary election, but ultimately withdrew from the race and did not receive the grant.
  • 2021 - Friends of John Carlson received the $20,000 grant for the general election and an additional $9148.00 in matching funds. 
  • 2019 - Friends of Justin Elicker collected $20,000 in grant funding and an additional $49,352 in matching funds during the primary election cycle.
  • 2017 - Marcus Paca for Mayor collected $19,000 in contested election grant funding and an additional $40 in matching funds were disbursed during the primary election cycle.
  • 2017 - Sarah Ganong ran as a Working Families Party Candidate and signed the pledge to abide by the Democracy Fund rules for maximum donation and a self-imposed limit for her contribution sources. She did not seek the grant nor matching funds. She received 8% of the vote, securing a line for the Working Families Party in future Mayoral Races.
  • 2015 - There was no contested election for Mayor of New Haven by Democracy Fund definitions.
  • 2013 - The New Haven Democracy Fund contributed $111,250.00 to participating candidates competing in the 2013 New Haven Democratic Party primary election for mayor. Full breakdown can be found in the participation archives.
  • 2011 - Participating candidate Jeffrey Kerekes' campaign received $8,202 in matching funds and a $17,000 grant for the September primary, where he placed second to Mayor DeStefano.
  • 2011 - Participating candidate Tony Dawson’s 2011 campaign collected a $17,000 grant and $6,420 in matching funds. He placed fourth in the 2011 primary.
  • 2009 - Participating candidate John DeStefano's campaign received $11,390 in matching funds. DeStefano won re-election in 2009.
  • 2007 - Participating candidate John DeStefano's campaign received $11,850 in matching funds. DeStefano won re-election in 2007.
