The Historic District Commission is comprised of five regular members and five alternate members, all of whom are appointed by the Mayor.

As set forth in CGS Sec. 7-147a(b), the commission works to promote the educational, cultural, economic and general welfare of the public through the preservation and protection of the distinctive characteristics of buildings and places associated with the history of or indicative of a period or style of architecture of the municipality, of the state or of the nation.

Term of membership is five years.

The commission has all the powers and duties set forth in CGS Section 7-147c.
