The Application Process for Positions within the City of New Haven

Please note that employment with the City of New Haven is contingent upon the successful completion of the following:

  1. a pre-employment background check,
  2. a pre-employment physical examination, including drug screening,
  3. a probationary period, the length of which is determined by the corresponding bargaining unit contract

Some positions may include additional pre-employment requirements. Instructions and information on the pre-employment process are included in Conditional Offer of Employment.
