The Board of Public Health is comprised of six members. At least two of the members must be doctors of medicine, from an accredited school of medicine with no less than five years’ experience in any or all of the following: clinical medicine, public health administration, or college or university teaching in any of the branches of medical sciences.

Members are appointed by the Mayor and must be approved by the Board of Alders. Term for board membership is five years.

The board works to adopt rules and regulations that pertain to the prevention of disease and the preservation of public health.

Monthly Meetings

The Board of Health meets monthly on the second Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Health Department. Please call 203-946-8174 to confirm the meeting date and location.
