New Haven Free Public Library’s Welcome Week Opens Doors to Community - September 16 – 23

To celebrate the start of the school year, open houses are scheduled at all five branches between September 16 - 23. Other events and programs are scheduled throughout the month to celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, New Haven Pride, and more.

NEW HAVEN, CT – The New Haven Free Public Library (NHFPL) is excited to announce NHFPL’s Welcome Week, which is being held from September 16 – 23. During Welcome Week, Open Houses will take place at all five NHFPL branches:

Mitchell Branch, 37 Harrison St. on September 16 from 2 pm – 4 pm

Fair Haven Branch, 182 Grand Ave. on September 19 from 2 pm – 6 pm

Wilson Branch, 303 Washington Ave. on September 19 from 5 pm – 7:30 pm

Stetson Branch, 197 Dixwell Ave. on September 23 from 10 am – 5 pm

Ives Main Library, 133 Elm St. on September 23 from 10 am – 5 pm

NHFPL is offering a variety of events and activities during Welcome Week to celebrate the start of a new school year, Library Card Sign-up Month, and more. Visitors at all five events will have the opportunity to meet the new City Librarian and Director, Maria Bernhey, and learn about all the library has to offer. There will be activities for all ages, including story times, activities, art projects, and programs, including a Community Resource Fair and a visit from Kid Governor Ellie Mendez. The September Open Houses are free and open to the public and a great opportunity to learn more about the library and its offerings. They also underscore NHFPL’s commitment to providing accessible library services to all members of the New Haven community.
