Message from: Maritza Bond, MPH, Director of Health

"I am pleased to share with you the 2022 Annual Report for the New Haven Health Department (NHV Health), where we aim to promote health, prevent disease, and protect you, our 135,000+ residents. Our mission is executed by a dedicated team, who uphold organizational values and efforts to create a culture of health and wellness, with a focus on addressing social determinants of health and health equity.

We have highlighted our proud accomplishments from this past year to show public health in action. Through input from partners and the public, we continued to support the community in the COVID-19 response efforts.
We also conducted surveillance and monitoring of diseases that emerged in our area such as RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) and mpox (formerly known as Monkeypox). Additionally, we stepped up our efforts in disease
investigation, communication, partnerships, and data sharing.

As the year progressed, we all endeavored to find a new normal and assure that our services continued to be offered and adapted to community priorities. The successes of this past year would not have been possible if not for our volunteers, partners, and community at large. I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone.

As you read our report, you will see that the professionals of NHV Health were not only up for the challenge, but have truly done this balancing act exceptionally well, as demonstrated by the number of programs and collaborations described within. I continue to be amazed by the NHV Health team and their forward-leaning, collaborative, and evidence-based approach to reaching our goal of optimal health, equity, and inclusion for all."

I encourage you to visit our website, sign up for our monthly newsletters, and follow us on social media
