NEW HAVEN FIREWORKS DISPLAY AND CELEBRATION POSTPONED TO JULY 5TH

Post Date:07/06/2023 10:59 AM

[NEW HAVEN, CT] – Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the City of New Haven’s annual fireworks celebration has been rescheduled from the evening of July 4th to the evening of Wednesday, July 5th at 9 pm.

The fireworks display is one of the largest in the state, a $30,000 performance including nearly 700 shells and lasting approximately 25 minutes. The fireworks will be set off from the summit of East Rock Park and there are several ways residents and visitors can watch the fireworks live, in partnership with media sponsors News 8 and WYBC, including:

  • In-person:
    • Official viewing site: Wilbur Cross High School athletic fields, located at 181 Mitchell Drive. Pre-fireworks festivities will begin at 6 p.m., including music, DJs and food trucks.
    • Other viewing locations: As a general rule of thumb, if you can see the summit of East Rock Park, you can see the fireworks!
  • TV: News 8 will be airing the fireworks live on WCTX Channel 9
  • Online: News 8 will be streaming the fireworks live at WTNH.com

In addition, 94.3 WYBC will provide music before and during the fireworks display.

Nearby the official viewing site, no parking restrictions will also shift to begin on July 5th at 5 pm on the following streets:

  • Mitchell Drive between Willow Street and Orange Street
  • English Drive between Rock Street and Farnam Drive
  • Orange Street between Mitchell Drive and English Drive

For those planning on going to official viewing site, attendees are encouraged to plan accordingly to allow sufficient time for parking upon arrival and to prepare for some traffic delays upon departure.
