The City of New Haven and South Central Regional Council of Governments (SCRCOG) are embarking on a study to consider converting one way streets in Downtown to two way streets, including, George Street, York Street and portions of Church Street and Chapel Street in order to make the streets safer and more functional for all modes of travel, especially for pedestrians and bicyclists.
The Study will address traffic congestion and pedestrian and bicycle safety and identify strategies to improve connectivity between residential and commercial districts.
A virtual public information meeting will be held to discuss the Existing Conditions in these corridors to understand deficiencies and needs prior to the next phase of the study, at which another public information meeting will be held.
