With single-stream recycling, all recyclables can be mixed together in the blue toter. If the toter has non-recyclable items such as; plastic bags, food waste, Styrofoam, DPW cannot empty it. To help decide what is and isn’t recyclable check this recycling flyer ; (Spanish).

Curbside city recycling is available to all residences with six units or less. If the building has more than 6 units or if it is a commercial entity, a “site cleanliness plan” listing the responsible hauler must be filed with Solid Waste Recycling Authority.

Throughout the year, Parks & Public Works and Take2 Recycling hosts Special Electronic Recycling Collections in New Haven neighborhoods. Such opportunities help residents recycle their electronics without having to pick up coupons. Those special collections will be listed on the What’s New page when they are announced.
