CITY OF NEW HAVEN ANNOUNCES “VAXGIVING” SHARE THE HOLIDAY FAMILY PHOTO CAMPAIGN

New Haven families encouraged to have a healthy and happy holiday season by getting vaccinated, protecting their loved ones from Covid-19, its variants, and the flu.

NEW HAVEN, CT – Today, the City of New Haven and the New Haven Health Department announced the start of the “VAXgiving” Share the Holiday Family Photo campaign. New Haven families who are fully vaccinated are encouraged to submit their favorite family holiday photo – whether around the dinner table or other holiday moment — for the chance to be featured in local TV commercials, billboards and social media advertisements for the New Haven Health Department’s upcoming public health campaign. There will be multiple winners and every family also has a chance to win a $100 holiday gift card for grocery shopping as well.

“The holidays are a time when families and friends gather and come together to celebrate, and we want to encourage everyone to have both a happy and healthy holiday season with their loved ones,” said New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker “New Haven families, including children six months and older, can get fully vaccinated against Covid-19, its variants, and the flu for free at our walk-in clinics as well as at their local pharmacies or healthcare provider. Together, let’s make the holidays picture perfect.”

New Haven Health Director Maritza Bond added, “Getting vaccinated and receiving your booster, when eligible, is the best defense against COVID-19. Combine that with an annual flu shot and the holidays will be brighter and healthier for everyone.”

The “VAXgiving” Share the Holiday Family Photo campaign runs from November 29 through December 26 and photos can be submitted at nhvvax.org.

To participate, New Haven families should follow the directions below:

• Ensure all family members in the photo are fully vaccinated.
• Submit up to two photos per family. (Color photos preferred. JPGS and PNGS files only.)
• Sign the photo release forms to allow usage of your family photos for the advertising campaign.
• Include an email contact and family name for the photos submitted.
• Note: Participating stations and media are only providing paid promotion and do not own the “VAXgiving” Photo Moment (which is a program of New Haven Health Department).

The New Haven Health Department, located at 54 Meadow Street, offers COVID-19 vaccines, boosters, and flu shots Mondays to Fridays, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays and until 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays.
